Negative Press Project
Negative Press Project
With the ravishing second album "Eternal Life | Jeff Buckley Songs and Sounds," the San Francisco Bay Area’s Negative Press Project takes a revelatory instrumental journey into the heart of the singer’s music. Negative Press Project (NPP), co-led by bassist Andrew Lion and pianist/keyboardist Ruthie Dineen, the expansive electro-acoustic ensemble brings a supple textural palette to Buckley’s material, transforming his emotionally wrought, show-stopping vocal vehicles into strikingly beautiful instrumental settings. Erasing distinctions between jazz and chamber music, rock and instrumental pop, NPP expands Buckley’s legacy by tapping into his beatific lyricism. Negative Press Project’s "Eternal Life | Jeff Buckley Songs and Sounds," which was produced by bass master Jeff Denson, is slated for release on Denson's non-profit label Ridgeway Records on November 17, 2017.

NPP is the latest singular ensemble to emerge from the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley. The band released an impressive debut album "see evil eyes | civilize" in 2015 focusing on original compositions by Dineen and Lion. A self described jazz and indie/art rock influenced music collective based out of Oakland, CA, The Bay Bridged says about the group, “Versatility abounds, and they always look for new ground to explore.”

Singer and creativity enthusiast, Moorea Dickason, is one half of the East Bay original art-rock super group, MoeTar, along with amazing musician and artist husband, Tarik Ragab. Striving to always serve the music, she shows up passionately and professionally in all that she participates in; to the extent of fearlessly baring her soul to appreciative audiences.

MoeTar put 2 albums out with Magna Carta Records but struck out on their own as an independent project in January 2016. Moorea and Tarik are presently producing consistent video songs every two weeks for their growing patrons on the Patreon platform. For those who love interesting new music, unexpected covers of familiar and unfamiliar songs, quirky yet poppy originals- all done with stellar musicianship and love for art and craft- will find the fertile soil of Moorea and Tarik’s imagination, nourishment to the spirit of creatives and music lovers alike.
Mia Pixley
Mia Pixley
Mia Pixley, singer, songwriter, on-stage mover, and lover of collaboration, is an active participant with artists in the Bay Area, carrying overarm similar experiences in her previous New York City home. Mia, her voice, and her cello have acted in New York City Off-Broadway musicals, contributed to recording sessions, and has been featured in experimental theater productions.

An Austin, Texas native and Oakland transplant, by way of Brooklyn, Mia began playing cello due to a tragic violin shortage thirty years ago at the University of Texas at Austin Youth String Project. After many years of classical cello study, Mia's development and interests as a musician involve using her voice and cello together, drawing from soul, blues, folk, classical and percussive traditions.
