Nate Jones & The Sloe Sippers
Nate Jones & The Sloe Sippers
We all met through music and formed a band in September of 2015. We play a fusion of blues, bluegrass, and folk music which we just call Blackgrass or Americana. We are a high energy band with soulful harmonies. It's the kind of music you want to drink whisky to...
Three Times Bad
Three Times Bad
THREE TIMES BAD plays “bluevelvetgrass,” a super fun, genre-bending form of “dirty American roots music” (The Register-Guard). With a Southern Gothic approach to songwriting and dynamic live performances in the family of the Devil Makes Three and early Old Crow Medicine Show, the Bay Area trio is “breathing fresh new life into American bluegrass… with a variety of musical influences such as hillbilly swing, outlaw country, Gypsy jazz, honkytonk, folk songs, and much more” (Music Junkie Press). The combo’s debut CD, American Sojourn, was named “Album of the Week” on Mike Morrison’s American Roots radio show. “There is a mastery of their instruments and arrangements,” says Morrison, “that enables them to roam at will through various old-time genres that contain not only a large slice of ‘hillbilly,’ but also a little western swing, blues, jazz, all played in their own inimitably unique style.”
Moonshine Jelly
Moonshine Jelly
Power-house acoustic duo Moonshine Jelly consists of violinist and vocalist Lee Corbie-Wells, and guitarist and filmmaker Kent Kessinger. Other members for a fuller ensemble include Margaret Marie on vocals and mandolin, and Zina Pozen on accordion. The band adds contemporary context to ancient folk songs and tunes of Eastern Europe, Celtic countries and the British Isles, and the Americas. With their intimate voices and performance intensity, this up-and-coming band is not only reviving but transforming traditional musics of the world.
